Former Zamalek coach Christian Gross has reportedly been placed in the shortlist of potential candidates to become the new manager of Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 to take over from caretaker Huub Stevens
Gross had announced his retirement from management, bringing his 32-year career to an end back in May 2020.
Gross was reappointed by Saudi Professional League, Al Ahli Jeddah, back in October after parting ways with Zamalek.
But according to German press, the 66-year-old coach is now shortlisted by Schalke to coach the struggling German side.
German outlet Kicker claimed that Gross is in competition with former Vissel Kobe boss Thorsten Fink to become the new manager of the Royal Blues.
Schalke are going through one of the team’s worst league runs ever as they haven’t achieved a win since January 2020. They currently sit in the bottom of the Bundesliga table with four points.
