The president of the Sports Writers Association Of Ghana(SWAG), Mr Kwabena Yeboah has added his voice on the Kotoko-GFA brouhaha.
Last Sunday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko were nearly prevented from erecting their Veo equipment at Accra Sports Stadium to record the match for educational purposes against Eleven Wonders on Matchday 1.
The match was delayed for 15 minutes as Kotoko management engaged in a fracas with StarTimes(the sole broadcaster of the Ghana Premier League), but we’re later given the node to record.
This has generated alot of tension between Asante Kotoko and the Ghana Football Association as the FA has schedule to meet the CEO of all the Premier League clubs to settle the matter.
The ace sports journalist, has express major concern on this matter.
speaking to Happy Sports, he said
“I think the banter between the GFA and Kotoko is needless. It shouldn’t have gotten to this point. I do not think it was necessary for the GFA to prevent Kotoko or any club to film their matches for technical reasons. I don’t think Startimes will lose anything at all because Kotoko will not show the game”.
“I don’t think the GFA should stretch the matter if the clubs want to film their matches for Technical reasons. We don’t need this at this time right now because our football has suffered for too long”.
“I am hoping that on Monday during the meeting, maturity and a great sense of understanding will guide the meeting”.
