Team manager for Division one side Nzema Kotoko has debunked rumor of players engaging in illegal mining in Nzema in the Western region.
The news went widely spread in the local media with players of the club feeding on illegal mining in this COVID 19 era.
In an exclusive interview with Takoradi based Spice FM, Team manager George Wilson said:
“We (Nzema Kotoko) have been notified on the issue, but honestly there is no truth in the rumor circulating. Most of the players are out of town due to the break, with few leaving within the community.”
“We remain professional and respect the government’s measure on illegal mining won’t encourage our players to do so.” He added.
The league season has been halted since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic with strict measures in place to combat the deadly virus.
