Bankroller for Division one side Proud United has labeled the Ghana Football Association’s decision to cut down Division one clubs to 18 as “Lazy” and does not see how the clubs will benefit.
According to Joojo Duncan, the GFA is trying to copy blindly and have not seen how unique the current 48 club season is, and has therefore called on the GFA to make the current system work as teams are bound to collapse with the new 18 club league format.
In an exclusive interview with Takoradi based Spice FM, Duncan said:
“What the GFA don’t know is that when we revert to an 18 club league, the other remaining 30 clubs will virtually lose the value of their asserts, that one is quarantined but there is not even a quarantine that the 18 clubs will really benefit and prosper just like the Premier League clubs.”
“The current 48 club league system is a unique format that they need to make sure it works. It is very lazy thinking to decide to scrap the current system and transplant what is being practiced elsewhere, something they find easy because they can’t make the current system work.”
The Ghana Football Association has already taken a decision form a 5 member committee for the implementation of the transitional provision of the number of participating clubs in the national division one league.
